Brücke über den Inn
The focus of the asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge (3-span bridge) in the form of a 200-metre-long S-curve was the tension between urban landscape, nature and technology.Embedded in a historically influenced urban fabric on the one hand and the panorama of the Alpine Nordkette mountain range on the other, this dynamically curved form, suspended from two pylons, represents a sculptural approach to the context and thus becomes a landmark in Innsbruck.
The dynamic loads of the funicular railway and the changing flow velocities of the Inn with its strong water level fluctuations are congenially translated here into an engineering-artistic form that helps shape the landscape. The Inn Bridge has become a landmark of the city, representing a kind of gateway to the inner old town.
