Railway District – Karlsruhe

The Southern Railway District at the Schwarzwaldstraße in Karlsruhe consists of a loose development of historic industrial buildings that are partially listed. The site is highly visible from the nearby train-line and will be marked by an urban dominant that is at the same time the starting point for a redevelopment that is stretching along the rail-tracks. Sight-lines towards the Black Forest place the project within a larger context. A 22-storey office tower with and a 7-storey hotel that is positioned tangentially next to it complete an ensemble of historic buildings that house cultural and gastronomic functions.
