Altes Tonhallenareal – Villingen-Schwenningen

The site is defined by its location between the Altstadtring and the river Brigach and forms the access point to the inner city of Villingen-Schwenningen. The building ensemble that is developed here relates to its surroundings by its urban scale of the singular building elements.

Generous open spaces and pedestrian zones function as a link in between urban areas that merge here. As an advancement of the inner city the public entrances on street-level are oriented towards the Kaiserring. The arcade of the hotel are meant to connect a new and lively urban square with a more quiet zone along the river Brigach and offer spaces of different qualities.
